[Date Created: August 8, 2014]

Bright smiles light up the faces of the future residents as they pose with Ironman 70.3 international triathletes

In true Filipino form, the triathletes enjoy a boodle lunch with Team GK. At the backdrop is a row of colorful GK homes,
which sheltered the community’s residents from Yolanda’s wrath last November.

Here's one scene at the Ironman GK Village that was not noticed by everyone- towards the end of the boodle fight,
the kids joined us to eat. PRO Triathlete @belinda_granger saw a boy wearing only a pair of slippers,
unlike the others who are in their shoes. Belinda asked the boy where his shoes are and why is he not wearing it.
The boy just shrugged. Belinda then took off her pair, saying "I have one more in my bag anyway"
and then gave it to the boy. One truly sweet act of kindness. Thank you Belinda!

CEBU - The Ironman Foundation raised at least P3 million to build 25 (sic) houses for typhoon Yolanda survivors in the northern Cebu town of Bantayan.

Fifteen of the Ironman 70.3 international triathletes, including champions Brent McMahon and Caroline Steffen, visited Bantayan to help in the rehabilitation efforts.

The athletes showed up full of energy, carrying sacks of sand and painting the walls of the houses, only a day after they swam nearly two kilometers, biked 90 kilometers and ran a half-marathon during the competition.
The Ironman Foundation, in partnership with Gawad Kalinga (GK), broke ground Monday for the construction of the houses in Barangay Ticad, Bantayan.

The area will be called the Ironman GK Village. The foundation had raised funds by, among others, selling rehabilitation-themed shirts in different countries.
