Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, Inc. (GK) is a Philippine-based movement that aims to end poverty for 5 million families, by first restoring the dignity of the poor. |

Help transform slums into peaceful & productive communities |
OUR WHY: Many families are born poor, making poverty a virtue of circumstance and keeping families poor for generations. Building communities that addresses landlessness & homelessness will break this vicious cycle of poverty and help propel the poor towards a path of empowerment and hope.
HOW IT WORKS:
- Transformation begins with PRESENCE & VALUES FORMATION
- Provision of SAFE & PERMANENT SHELTER: GK standard row house design, 22-25 sqm, loft-able
- A MULTI-STAKEHOLDER EFFORT: donated/usufruct land from private donor/LGU, site development c/o LGU, sweat equity from Kapitbahayan, community organizing & values formation by caretaker teams & volunteers, and the contribution of other partners to help introduce other programs.

Help end hunger for children in public schools & on the streets |
OUR WHY: About 15 million Filipino children in public schools, on the streets & displaced by conflict or disaster are forced to beg, eat food scraps, steal or simply sleep it off. Everyday, they face the threat of not realizing their full potential. The effects of hunger are irreversible and undermines not only their future but our country's too.
HOW IT WORKS:
- DAILY, VEGETABLE-BASED LUNCHES COOKED IN A CENTRAL KITCHEN to address hunger & malnutrition
- SUPPORTS EDUCATION by encouraging school attendance/enrolment & participative learning
- CONTRIBUTES TO LOCAL ECONOMY by sourcing ingredients from local farmers & utilizing local transport systems for food distribution
- ACTIVE PARTICIPATION & values formation of children, parents & teachers

OUR WHY: The greatest gift we can give to a child is play and the space to dream and develop their potential, but many children in poor communities are deprived of this. A child that plays and prays with others learns what it means to inspire goodness in others.
HOW IT WORKS:
- FUTSAL CLUB FORMATION & CAMPS c/o volunteer coaches as a means to teach leadership and the values of discipline, teamwork and others
- INTER-COMMUNITY/SCHOOL MINI-FUTSAL LEAGUES to build confidence and a healthy sense of competition
- FOCUS ON SCHOOLING, as club members are strongly encouraged to be enrolled and maintain certain grade averages.

Prepare GK & GK communities to respond quickly to disaster |
OUR WHY: The Philippines is in the world's top 5 most disaster-prone countries (Source: UNIDSR), and we have been experiencing the negative effects of climate change, including extreme weather condition. Disasters are the new normal, and when they strike, the poor become even poorer because whatever meager belongings and assets they have are destroyed. The tragedy of every disaster is when we allow the poor to recover on their own - and this could be a very long process unless we all help.
HOW IT WORKS:
- FUNDS ON-HAND AT GK HQ FOR IMMEDIATE DISASTER RELIEF– food & water are basic to survival and must be deployed within the first 48 hours
- PROVISIONS OF FIRST AID KITS & OTHER BASIC IMPLEMENTS
