How We Do It

Green Kalinga is a demand-driven environment program implemented in the GK communities. Each GK community is individually assessed based on its natural features and the needs of the community and from here appropriate Green Kalinga components are implemented to address the needs of the community.

More than the utilization of alternative technology, much of the success of the Green Kalinga program depends on how the values and principles pertaining to the environment are imbibed and practiced by the GK residents, workers and volunteers. The technical and advocacy support provided by Green Kalinga and its partners to ensure continued access to cleaner air and water and productive soil becomes sustainable only when a shift of lifestyle is adopted by each community.

Volunteers from academic institutions and civil society groups ensure the implementation of Green Kalinga components by adopting specific GK communities and engaging them through teaching and empowerment.

Corporations and individuals are actively involved through the funding of enhancements for existing GK communities and ensuring that proper environmental planning is integrated for new GK communities in light of new research and changing norms.

Through its internal advocacy, Green Kalinga has begun integrating itself into all the other GK programs to ensure that they adhere to the values and principles of sound environmental management in their implementation.
