Welcome to the 5th GK1mB Bayani Challenge Page!

Palawan.

One of the Philippine’s premiere destinations. Famous for its limestone cliffs and underground river, Palawan is blessed with nature's awesome wonders.

But amidst its natural splendor, you have yet to discover its hidden treasure -- the beautiful Palau'ans, the indigenous community who reside in the southern part of the island.

This year, we will be building 100 homes for the poor Palau'ans at Rio Tuba (Bohoy and Culimbawang). Together with other Gawad Kalinga (GK) volunteers, you will have a chance to build a GK community - not only restoring the dignity of the poorest of thepoor but also caring for their environment.

So it is with great excitement that we invite you to join us in the 5th GK1MB Bayani Challenge in Palawan from March 29 to April 4, 2010! It is a week-long test of endurance, courage, and love for God and country.

It is in our tradition that we celebrate Holy Week in different ways, either by attending different religious activities or having a vacation. For this year, Gawad Kalinga is offering a different way of celebrating the Holy week… In communion with the Lord, in solidarity with the poor, one with other heroes, basking in the beauty of nature and connecting with our indigenous brothers and sisters - the Palau’ans.

Bring your family, friends and co-workers! Form a group and build together. Join us as we

EXPLORE a new side of being Filipino!

                                        BUILD communities and relationships!

And PROTECT mother earth by helping the poor!

Sincerely,
