Thanks to the goodness of Thomson Reuters Manila Volunteer Council together with Pride and Women @ TR, our residents at GK Thomson Reuters Village in Aklan received a week’s long worth of goods.

Last December in Thomson Reuters’ annual year-end event, the employees garnered an award for being the Star of The Night (Group Category). Instead of distributing it amongst themselves, they decided to make use of the cash prize to extend help once again to the GK Thomson Reuters Village beneficiaries.

Thomson Reuters has been actively participating in various Gawad Kalinga programs through the years, the Bayani Challenge to name a few.

This time around, while the employees did not physically go to the village themselves like last time, their presence was still felt by the residents as the GK team distributes the care packages Thomson Reuters team provided.





The goods giving was held last April 15 wherein the 20 families of the Thomson Reuters GK Village received grocery items good for one week– perfect for their summer get together!

“Napakasaya nila.” Ms. Vicente, a GK site coordinator, exclaims. “Sabi nila pang isang linggong kain ng bigas na rin. Malaking pasasalamat sa Thompson Reuters!”



Through this project, we are reminded of what it means to give and receive. Sometimes when we are caught up in our busy and fast-paced lives, we forget that there are people out there who needs our help. Lucky are we to find people who are willing to lend a hand, such as the employees over at Thomson Reuters Manila.

Indeed, there is a great gift in giving and receiving, and that it takes a village to make lives better and brighter.
