How We Do It
Land Security
The CIP Team ensures that each site is covered by proper legal documents to ensure that residents have security of tenure. We work with government agencies to make sure that each site is cleared by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to reduce the risk and consequences of natural calamities.
Sweat Equity
CIP builds the physical platform for the various GK Programs, using a combination of skilled workers and the sweat equity of the GK residents. As we build the homes and other community facilities, we train GK residents to provide sweat equity for the construction so that there is a sense of ownership, and it is one way for them to build relationships since you help build your neighbor’s house. As we build the bayanihan (being a hero to one another) spirit in the community, we also ensure the sustainability of the homes because the families take great efforts to maintain the beauty of their environment since they all worked on it together.
GK Villages and GK Estates
In support of GK’s vision to end poverty in the Philippines by 2024, CIP is building-up an entire business unit to be able to deliver our commitments to partners like you. Aside from building our traditional GK villages of 30-100 homes, CIP has also introduced the GK Estates which are larger communities composed of at least 300 houses in one site to achieve scale and better efficiency. Partners who are looking for areas that can construct faster and for a lower price can now choose the Estates and help GK reach more families faster.
CIP continuously improves its systems and technologies to respond to the dynamic of the work of Gawad Kalinga. While CIP sets the national standards that are adopted by the different GK sites, we also have research and development areas in strategic parts of the country that are constantly testing better and more efficient technologies and construction systems.
